The charming Country Resort Cortijo Balzaín is situated in the Sierra Nevada National Park (Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO), in the heart of the mountains and at just 8 km from Granada city, 30 km. to the ski resort and 45 km. to the beaches of the Costa Tropical. This Cortijo from XVII century, has been restored acting with the greatest respect to the rustic elements of its former structure, enhancing the character and beauty of these houses. The cottages are very cozy and comfortable and their names evoke its former uses: the stable, the corral, the barn, the shed... In its interior emphasize elements of wood and stone from its original structure retained throughout the rustic and authentic flavor of its past, in a rural setting full of charm, peace and tranquility. The Tourism Board has given the rank of Casa Rural Superior, the highest award for rural accommodation; it also has the “3 Spikes” Award from the Rural Tourism Spanish Association and the ISO 14.001 qualification for environmental management and the Natural Park of Andalucia quality award.
